What we do
Save the Children works in Niger to ensure that every child can survive, learn and be protected, particularly in a context marked by recurring security and humanitarian crises and structural challenges. Our programmes intervene at all levels, from grassroots communities to national authorities, to promote children's rights and bring about lasting change:
Education and Child Protection: We work to expand access to inclusive, quality education, encourage children to enroll and stay in school, and protect girls from early and forced marriage.
Health and Nutrition: We strengthen health systems and train health workers in the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, while ensuring access to essential services and life-saving interventions in maternal and child health.
Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH): We support access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene in communities, schools and health facilities to improve children's wellbeing.
Child Resilience and Poverty: We also work to build household and community resilience by supporting livelihoods and tackling the root causes of poverty, while integrating child protection into all our actions.
Child Rights Governance: We interact and support child campaigners and advocates that work to promote children's rights at a national level.
Humanitarian Responses: Our humanitarian interventions provide cash assistance, food and essential items to families affected by conflict, displacement or natural disasters.
