Since 1983, Save the Children has been a cornerstone of humanitarian and development assistance in Sudan. We are currently operating in 14 of the 18 states in the country amidst complex challenges with our dedicated staff tirelessly implementing a wide range of programmes. Our presence in Sudan is a multi-sectoral response programming for children and their families, focusing on Health & Nutrition, Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Cash and Voucher Assistance, Child Protection (CP) and Child Rights Governance (CRG).
The combination of conflict, natural disasters, disease outbreaks and economic degradation has resulted in 30.7 million people – of which 17.3 million are children - needing humanitarian support. Sudan is now the largest displacement crisis globally as conflict continues to fuel cross-border displacement.
